About GFR Calculation
Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the best overall index of kidney function. The CKD-EPI equation is currently recommended for routine clinical use because it has better accuracy than the MDRD Study equation, especially at higher GFR.
CKD Stages:

|---|---|---|
| 1 | ≥90 | Normal or high kidney function |
| 2 | 60-89 | Mildly decreased kidney function |
| 3a | 45-59 | Mild to moderately decreased |
| 3b | 30-44 | Moderate to severely decreased |
| 4 | 15-29 | Severely decreased kidney function |
| 5 | <15 | Kidney failure |
